Welcome to the sterndale Surgery Notice Board
Please remember to visit here on a regular basis, so you can hear about the latest changes that are taking place at your practice.
Patient Satisfaction Survey
As you may be aware, the surgery carried out a survey in 2009 to get feedback on the services and care we provide. We are very grateful for this feedback and will look at our services and ways to improve where needed.
Key areas of feedback highlighted were:
- The reception team are very busy and sometimes unhelpful - we are organising a patient group to continue to get feedback on the service the surgery provides. In addition, we are employing a new receptionist, who will start in January 2010, and planning some staff training.
- Our opening hours are restrictive and it is sometimes hard to access the surgery or get an appointment - We have added 4.5 hours of open surgery time - please see the posters highlighting when.
- It would be helpful if there was a service where blood can be taken in the surgery rather than traveling to the hospital - we are aiming to employ a member of stafff who could be trained to take blood.
- Some patients are unsure how to contact Out of Hours - this service is available whenever the surgery is shut, so a doctor is contactable 24 hours a day. The number is given out when you call the normal surgery number.
Swine flu
If you are suffering with flu like symptoms, we kindly request that you do not come to the surgery but rather call us. Your call will be returned by one of the doctors who will advise you accordingly and may arrange for anti-virals to be prescribed for you. For further general advice on swine flu please call; 0800 1 513 513. For treatment call; 0800 1 513 100. Alternatively visit; www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu.

Text Messaging - We have for some time now trialling a text messaging service, via which we can text patients certain information. In order to ensure that this service is effective we kindly request patients ensure we have their correct and up to date mobile numbers.
