Clinics
Antenatal Clinic
The community midwife and doctors provide antenatal and postnatal care. If the availability of the midwife is
not convenient, please make an ordinary appointment to see the doctor.
Well Baby Clinic
Wednesday 1:00 - 3:00pm
The baby clinics are run by the doctors (weekly), health visitor (fortnightly) and practice nurse for child development checks and
immunisations and allow an opportunity to discuss other problems e.g. sleeping, feeding and child health worries.
This clinic is for well babies only.
Asthma Clinic
This is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
Diabetic Clinic
This is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
Family Planning
The doctors and practice nurse will provide contraceptive advice, breast checks and cervical smears during normal
surgery hours. IUCD's are fitted by appointment after discussion with the doctor.
Well Woman Clinics
This clinic is run by the doctors for smears, postnatal checks and discussion for women's health issues.
Minor Surgery
Dr Stratford-Martin carries out minor surgical procedures at the surgery by appointment and the doctors will be
happy to advise you on this.
Non-NHS Examinations
A charge is made for all private work undertaken by the practice. This includes sick notes, passport applications,
holiday cancellation letters and other services that are not included in the General Medical Services provided.
BMA-recommended rates are applied. Please ask at reception if you have any queries.
Patients Over 75 Years
If you are aged 75 years or over, you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the practice nurse, district
nurse or health visitor. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit will be
arranged.
Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations
Please make an appointment at least two weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will
be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is
held at reception.
The West London Travel Clinic
The West London Travel Clinic offers travel advice, immunisations and prescriptions. For appointments call 020
7610 4560.
Flu Vaccinations
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes.
Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
Yellow Fever Vaccinations
Sterndale surgery is an authorised Yellow Fever vaccination centre.
